How certain are you that Alexander Guthrie Hebenton whose memorial is in the churchyard of St Marks, Badulla, Ceylon was born at Brechin on 6 October 1832. Is this on his memorial? Or has it been inserted from elsewhere. I ask because the Alexander Hebenton born 6.10.1832 has spouse Isabell Robbs born 1838 and parents George Hebenton and Helen Wallace but the Alexander Hebenton born 30 10 1834 goes with David Hebenton and Jean Craig. Isabell would be able to be Mary Helen Hebenton’s mother in 1863 and just about to be William’s mother in 1878 when she would have been 40.
Was the Alexander Guthrie Hebenton born 1882, died 1897, really 15 or 5 as the message tells me? Finally were they both named Guthrie, or the father just Alexander Hebenton? Thank you. Pat Manning
