My grandfather Alexander Dalton Murray, born late 1850s, City of Edinburgh, Scotland, on my mothers side, was a tea planter and pass away in Ceylon when he became ill during his return sea voyage to the UK from the far east and was put ashore in Columbo to recover, but sadly died there.
I have tried to find where he is buried and it would appear he was laid to rest in St John´s Church graveyard, Chundiikuli, Jaffna. In my search I did find other A.D. Murray, one a tea planter the other a civil engineer also buried tin Sri Lanka.
I would like conformation that the Alexander Dalton Murray buried in Jaffna is indeed my grandfather and ask if you are able to help me with this important question. I am in my early 80s now and currently live in Switzerland and would be delighted to receive any details that you may have on my late grandfather. Thanking you in advance and remain. Yours sincerely
Douglas Murray McWhannell. (Retired Chartered Civil Engineer).
