A recent inspection of the graveyards in the tea country of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) has proved that the repairs we organised and which have been funded by BACSA are well under way. Currently the graveyards at St Margaret’s Kotagala also Holy Trinity Pussellawa and Holy Trinity Nuwara Eliya are finished and others at St Mark’s Badulla and Christ Church Warleigh are still under repair.

Apparently many of the child deaths in the Holy Trinity Nuwara Eliya cemetery/graveyard are due to a severe outbreak of malaria. When I visited in 2012, our driver was curious about the number of very young children dying and asked his contacts overnight and came back with this information.
Cholera and dysentery were also major child killers during this period.
Regards the Holy Trinity Nuwara Eliya cenetery, for what period does the malaria outbreak refer? Also cholera and dysentery? I have a family member aged 29 buried there in 1905 and was wondering a likely causeof death at that time please?
Regarding your relative who died in 1905 aged 29 and is buried in the churchyard at Holy Trinity Church Nuwara Eliya it is not possible to ascertain the cause of death. It could be any one of the three causes you mentioned as all were common causes of death during that period.
